On Friday, 14th March, I met with local young people to help them understand local democracy and politics.
The event was held at Banbury Children and Family Centre, and thirty-six 11-18 year olds attended.
In holding a Q&A session, wide-ranging issues were discussed. Areas such as climate change, diversity, inequalities and health were spoken about, alongside other questions focussing on how young people can get involved with politics, and the impacts that technology and social media have on young people’s mental health.
I was thoroughly impressed by the contributions made by Banbury’s young people and found the event very enjoyable. I look forward to seeing what they get up to, and hope to see some of them as political colleagues in the not so distant future.
